Site Host Partnership FAQ
Everything you need to know about bringing high-speed EV infrastructure to your property with zero capital outlay.
What is the "Zero-Cost" Host Model?
Volt Virginia operates as the developer and owner-operator. We leverage a specialized "Capital Stack"—including Federal 30C Tax Credits, CFI Community Grants, and USDA REAP funds—to cover 100% of the equipment, engineering, and installation costs. You provide the site; we provide the infrastructure.
How do you handle grid constraints in rural or mountain areas?
We specialize in Battery-Buffered Technology. Unlike traditional chargers that require massive, expensive utility upgrades, our systems store energy onsite. This allows us to deliver high-speed charging while "sipping" power from the existing grid, avoiding transformer upgrades and peak-demand utility spikes for the property owner.
Why is Volt Virginia focused on the TJPDC and CVEC regions?
These corridors are currently "charging deserts" that limit tourism and local commerce. By focusing on regional anchors (winery, resort, and grocery hubs), we build a cohesive network that qualifies for high-priority federal funding, specifically the CFI Community Grant program.
Do I need to coordinate with the utility company (e.g. CVEC or Dominion)?
No. Volt Virginia handles 100% of the utility relationship. We manage the entire interconnection process, from initial load studies and engineering to final inspections. Whether your site is in CVEC or Dominion territory, we serve as the sole point of contact for the power company, ensuring the infrastructure is deployed without any administrative burden on your staff.
Who is responsible for maintenance and uptime?
Volt Virginia is. We use BABA-compliant (Build America, Buy America) hardware and manage all ongoing maintenance, software, and payment processing. Our goal is 97%+ uptime to ensure your guests have a seamless, premium experience.
Who pays for the electricity used by the chargers?
Volt Virginia does. We typically install a dedicated utility meter for our equipment so the electricity is billed directly to us, completely separate from your business's utility bill. In cases where a separate meter isn't feasible, we use integrated software to track exact kilowatt-hour usage and provide 100% reimbursement to the site host. Your operational budget is never impacted by guest charging.
Is my business eligible for the USDA REAP Grant?
If you are a rural small business or an agricultural producer (like a winery or farm), you likely qualify for a 50% REAP Grant. Volt Virginia handles the complex application process to secure these funds, which we pair with tax credits to achieve our zero-cost deployment model.
What is Volt Virginia’s Federal Credential?
We are fully registered in the federal System for Award Management (SAM.gov), allowing us to serve as a private-sector partner for regional and federal infrastructure grants.
